5 Ways to Have Fun in a Business Meeting

If your client is dodging meeting requests, it’s probably because they’re boring. Here are 5 ways to bring fun to a meeting, without turning it into a circus.

If your client is dodging your meeting requests, it's probably because they're BORING (the meeting not the client).

Along with your regular preparation, give some thought to how you can make your meetings more engaging.

There are easy ways you can bring some fun to a meeting, without turning it into a circus.

Here are five of my favourites.

1. Celebrate Wins
Highlight accomplishments and the contributions people have made to achieve them. Everyone loves a shout out.

2. Create Word Clouds
Ask a question and watch words appear in real time in a word cloud. The more frequent words appear larger. It's visual, fun and a great way to get instant quick feedback and data (I use Mentimeter).

3. Use Humour
You don't have to be a comedian. Open with a joke or a meme or sprinkle them throughout your presentation. Dad jokes are my favourite. They're funny and non-threatening. Check out @dadsaysjokes on Instagram.

4. Brainstorm Ideas
Encourage collaboration by breaking into huddle groups to discuss an agenda topic and have everyone present back for discussion.

5. Use Pictures
A picture paints a thousand words. Make your presentations more concise and engaging by using pictures - keep the word count to a minimum.
